Reign of Rome -- My First Impressions
Right, so Reign of Rome is Hacksaw Gaming's latest stab at the ancient world, and honestly the vibe is proper intense. Two massive legionnaires flanking a 5x5 grid, fiery battlefield in the background, lots of reds and blacks. It feels heavy, like Rise of Ymir or Wanted Dead or a Wild in terms of mood. No lighthearted nonsense here -- you're going to war, basically. Runs on 19 paylines with cascading wins, medium-high volatility, and an RTP topping out at 96.27%. Bets go from 10p up to a hundred quid.

Symbols and Paytable in Reign of Rome
The paytable is straightforward enough. Your low payers are the usual J through A royals -- five of a kind gets you 2.5x your bet, nothing wild. Then you've got the premiums: goblet and swords at 5x for a full line, helmet and lion at 7.5x, and the eagle sitting at the top paying 10x. No wilds at all in this game, which felt odd at first but you stop noticing once the Tribute symbols start doing their thing.
The Tribute symbols are the real meal ticket. They come in four flavours -- Adding ones worth 1x to 10x, Revealing Adding ones that can go up to 500x, Multiplying ones at x2 to x5, and Revealing Multiplying ones reaching x25. When they line up on a payline you get a LootLine, and the values combine left to right. If a Multiplying Tribute sits on the leftmost reel it just acts as an Adding one instead.

Bonus Rounds in Reign of Rome -- Where the Action Is
Three bonus rounds here, all triggered by FS scatters. Three scatters gets you Path to Power -- 10 free spins with boosted Tribute values. Four scatters lands you This is Rome, same deal but now non-winning Tributes get collected in a LootBar beneath the reels. Fill all five positions and you cash out those stored values. Then there's the hidden one -- Fight for Glory needs all five scatters. Good luck with that. Same 10 spins but every LootBar position starts at 20x and the whole lot pays out at the end regardless.
There are also five bonus buy options if you're impatient. BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 3x your bet makes bonus triggers five times more likely. Shield Wall and Spears Out both cost 50x and guarantee Tribute symbols each spin. You can buy Path to Power for 100x or This is Rome for 200x. The Fight for Glory round? Can't buy it. You just have to grind for those five scatters organically. Max win across all modes is 15,000x.

Reign of Rome -- Worth a Spin?
Look, if you've played Donny Dough or Marlin Masters you'll recognise the LootLines mechanic, but Hacksaw have given it a proper twist with the tiered bonuses and that LootBar system. The base game can feel a bit dry without wilds, I won't lie, and getting into the better bonuses takes patience. But when those Tribute multipliers start stacking on a LootLine it genuinely gets the pulse going. It's not reinventing the wheel but it's a solid, gritty session if you fancy something with teeth. That 15,000x cap is reachable in every mode too, which is reassuring.
