Le Zeus

Right, so Le Zeus is the latest in Hacksaw Gaming's 'Le' series, and this time that grumpy raccoon Smokey has nicked Zeus's toga and set up shop on Mount Olympus. It runs on a 6x5 grid with 19 paylines, bets from 10p up to 50 quid, and the whole thing looks properly lovely -- clouds, columns, statues, the lot. Medium volatility apparently, though it didn't always feel that way to me. Top RTP is 96.26% and the max win goes up to 20,000x, which is the highest the series has managed so far.

Low pays are four Greek letters -- alpha, delta, pi, phi -- and six of a kind gets you just 3x your bet. Not thrilling. The premiums are where it gets more interesting: pipes, pillars, swords, masks, wings and helmets. A full line of helmets pays 100x, which is decent. Wilds show up as a golden W and pay 200x for six of a kind, though they won't stand in for scatters, mystery symbols or any of the special coin bits.

The real action comes from Mystery symbols -- lightning bolts that land on reels 2 through 5. They reveal high-pay symbols, wilds, or Mystery Reels. Those Mystery Reels then spit out bronze, silver and gold coins worth 0.2x to 100x, diamonds up to 500x, clovers that multiply adjacent coins by up to 20x, and Pots of Gold that hoover up everything on screen. When a Pot collects, the remaining Mystery Reel symbols spin again. It can snowball nicely.

Three scatters trigger Bolt and Run -- 8 free spins where all Mystery symbols stick to the grid and coins start at 1x minimum. Simple but effective. Four scatters get you Myth-Taken Identity, also 8 spins, but now there's a Mystery Meter on the side. Land 25 mystery symbols and you earn a reward spin where the entire grid fills with Mystery Reels. Each subsequent reward spin removes the lowest coin tier, so potential climbs fast.

Then there's Gods Just Wanna Have Fun, triggered by five scatters. Good luck seeing that naturally -- I never did. Reels 2 to 5 start fully loaded with mystery symbols, low pays are binned off entirely, and minimum coin value jumps to 5x. Sounds mental. The catch across all three rounds is there are no retriggers whatsoever. You get your 8 spins and that's your lot. In Myth-Taken Identity especially, 8 spins often feels tight to collect 25 mystery symbols for even one reward spin. Feature buys are available too: 80x for Bolt and Run, 300x for Myth-Taken Identity, 3x for BonusHunt spins, and 50x for Le God Mode which guarantees at least 6 mystery symbols per spin.

Honestly, I reckon Le Zeus is a proper solid entry in the series but the no-retrigger thing stings. When Mystery Reels fire off with clovers and pots, the maths gets genuinely exciting, and imagining a reward spin full of diamonds is the kind of thought that keeps you pressing spin. But bonuses can feel a bit short, especially Myth-Taken Identity where you're racing against 8 spins to fill that meter. The 36% hit frequency keeps the base game ticking over nicely though, and the whole Greek god look with Smokey in a toga is properly entertaining. If you liked Le Bandit or Le King, give it a go -- just temper your expectations on bonus length.
