Blade Master

I recently had a few sessions on Blade Master by Backseat Gaming, and it’s quite the fantasy romp. The setting is a hidden town crawling with ogres and monsters located right at the foot of some mountains. It plays out on a 5-reel, 5-row grid which is fairly standard, but it uses 19 paylines, which is a bit of an odd number.

The stats are interesting enough to keep you playing. It boasts a solid max win of 13,000x your bet, which is nothing to sniff at. The volatility feels punchy—one report says medium, another high—but with an RTP sitting around 96.29%, it felt fair enough during my playtime.

You’ll see the usual 10 to Ace card royals as the low-paying lot, paying up to 1x for a full line. The real cash lies with the high-paying monster symbols. There are four of them: blue, yellow, green, and purple characters. The purple and green ones seem to be the top dogs, paying up to 15x depending on your luck.

The Wild symbol is a standout red ‘W’. It substitutes for the regulars and pays 20x if you manage to land five of a kind. It’s the bread and butter of this slot, especially when the multipliers start getting involved.

The game is named after the Blademaster feature, which can trigger randomly on any spin. The main lad swings his giant sword and drops 2 to 5 Wild Multipliers onto the reels. In the base game, these carry values between 2x and 10x. If you get more than one, they multiply each other, which can lead to some cracking wins out of nowhere.

The Free Spins are where it gets serious. You trigger them with 3 or more Scatters. Inside, there's a Global Multiplier starting at 2x that you can boost up to 50x by landing Blue Flags. When the Blademaster feature hits here, the Wilds take on the value of that Global Multiplier, making huge payouts much more likely.

I reckon Blade Master is a brilliant little slot if you like high potential. The visuals are sharp with that dark, spiky stone frame, and the soundtrack—full of drums and horns—really sets the mood for a battle. It’s simple enough not to be confusing but has enough depth with that Global Multiplier to keep you on the edge of your seat.
